International Academic Programs
The International Studies Program is not an academic program in itself, nor does it provide direct assistance to international students. [Links] However, the International Studies Program does develop and manage the international academic activities of the Andrew Young School. For example, the ISP manages the USAID-funded Indonesian Masters Program in Applied Economics. The ISP further has partnership agreements with a number of international organizations, international policy schools and research institutes. In addition, the Andrew Young School has was recently selected as a host institution for the Peace Corps Masters International Program.
International Research
As part of the ISP's mission to promote excellence in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policy in developing and transitional economies around the world, the Program hosts numerous international scholars and policy makers as visiting scholars in public policy for short- or long-term exchanges through a variety of fellowship and exchange programs. The ISP further promotes policy-oriented research through its working paper series, annual conferences, and the International Policy Lecture Series.
Complementarity within the School
The technical assistance efforts and training programs offered by the International Studies Program uniquely complement the academic research and the educational mission of the Andrew Young School. As part of the Andrew Young School's global vision, the School's faculty and research staff are supported by a pool of graduate research assistants, many of which come from developing or transition economies. In addition, the ISP offers college seniors the opportunity to gain hands-on public policy experience through the School's summer internship program .
