Juan Luis Gomez

Juan Luis Gómez is currently a candidate in the doctoral program in Public Policy, with a concentration in Public Finance and Policy Evaluation. Juan Luis holds an MSc in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an Honors B.Sc. in Economics from the Universidad de Castilla La Mancha in Spain. He has ample experience as an economist in developing countries. Juan Luis was an Overseas Development Institute Fellow in Papua New Guinea from 2000-2002, working on budget formulation and economic policy analysis, and served as an economist for UNDP in Viet Nam from 2002-2005. He has consulted in Chile, Guatemala, Mongolia, Peru, and Viet Nam for international and non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank Institute, the Open Society Institute, and AIESEC. His research interests include fiscal decentralization in developing and transitional economies, inter-municipal cooperation, public expenditure and taxation analysis, and poverty dynamics.
