Michael Rushton teaches courses in microeconomics for policy analysis, nonprofit organizations, and the economics of the arts. In Spring 2006 he will offer a new course, PAUS 8201, on International NGOs, for Master's students in the MPA and MSUPS programs in nonprofits.

Rushton has published numerous papers on public funding of the arts, copyright, and tax policy. His current projects include an investigation into the determinants of arts spending in U.S. states, a study of the referendum in Alabama in 2003 on restructuring the state tax system, and an assessment of the taxation of unrelated business income earned by nonprofit organizations.
