Mr. Umar Wahid was a Visiting Scholar from Pakistan at the International Studies, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies from November 2007 to March 2008. During his stay, he completed research study ”Incidence of Taxes in Pakistan : Premier and Preliminary Estimates” with Professor Sally Wallace under the Pakistan Tax Policy Review Project sponsored by the World Bank.
Mr. Wahid received his Master's degree in Economics from Karachi University , Pakistan . He is a civil servant and started his career as Economic Investigator in the Planning and Development Division Islamabad, later he joined the Food and Agricultural Department Karachi as Research Assistant, where he served for four and half year. He has a long association with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), formerly known as CBR, where he served as Research Officer, followed by Deputy Director and currently he is serving FBR in the capacity of Secretary (Fiscal Research and Statistics)
He has been involved in Fiscal Research activities in FBR and he is an author and co-author of a number of research papers published in various journals. His area of research has been Macro Economic Management, Fiscal Policy and Tax Administration Reforms issues in Pakistan. |
