Fiscal Decentralization in Nepal: Concepts and Applications

[Project Details]

The Workshop "Fiscal Decentralization: A Review of Concepts and Applications in Nepal" was held from January 7-12, 2004, at The Park Village Hotel in Buddhanilkantha, Nepal. The week-long workshop was developed and delivered the Andrew Young School as part of the ongoing institutional strengthening of the Local Bodies Fiscal Commission with support from UNCDF and DASU/Danida.

The workshop was attended by 30 senior government officials, including officials from the LBFC Secretatiat, Ministry of Local Development, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, and various line ministries.

In addition to the technical-level training, the workshop was followed by a day-long policy-level forum, at which the policy implications of the technical discussions were highlighted.
