Fiscal Policy Summer Training Courses

Course Summary
This course provides participants with the most current understanding of how to deal with these issues. Topics covered will include polices for economic development, reduction of high inflation, resolving banking crisis, the importance of fiscal stability, alternative exchange rate regimes, the causes of financial crises, and relationship with international financial institutions. Hands-on techniques using macroeconomic data for diagnostics and forecasting will be demonstrated. Participants apply principles learned in the course to assess strengths and weaknesses of different policies in their countries and to further their analysis on a particular project they bring to the course. The project will be implemented with assistance from the program faculty and peers. This topic-driven course will consist of lectures, seminars, roundtable discussions, workshops, and on-site visits. The course is particularly designed for public and private sector officers from developing and transitional countries, but it is open to anyone with interest in these issues.
