Fiscal Policy Summer Training Courses 2006: Course Summary
Development Macroeconomics exposes economic policy makers and policy analysts to economic issues that have recently affected developing and transition countries, and provides participants with the most current understanding and approaches to these and other macroeconomic policy issues. Topics covered will include economic development policies, financial sector reforms and their effect on the economy, international trade and foreign direct investment, the importance of fiscal stability, alternative exchange rate regimes, the causes of financial crises, poverty alleviation strategies, and the political economy of economic reforms. Participants apply principles learned in the course to assess the strengths and weaknesses of different policies in their own countries and work individually with faculty members to analyze particular policy questions which they bring to the course. This topic-driven course will consist of lectures, seminars, and roundtable discussions. This course is taught in English.
